ReplyDeleteI actually missed the viewing of this and I am so upset!! If anyone finds the footage let me know! I've been trying to keep up with it in the news.
ReplyDeleteLemonade is so empowering and such a huge step for the black community. People think Beyonce is just bashing her husband throughout the album, but she is telling a story. She is enlightening, addressing, and teaching America.
ReplyDeleteI just recently listened to Lemonade. I feel like I can finally jump on the bandwagon because this album is so gritty, it's amazing. Similar to what we discussed in class for Shapeshifters, Bey has used what society would use against black women instead to empower her. It is almost as if she is using it to her advantage and as a "fuck off" to what the status quo would define as how a black girl should be/look/act. There's been a lot of hate regarding her being over sexualized in this album but I always go back to shapeshifters and her discussion of the sexualization of black women's bodies.
